2013 in Review by Devin Sizmore
Today dawns the beginning of a new year and the conclusion of a wonderful 2013. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on 2013 and all that it had to offer. 2013 was the first full year of business for MarkUBiz and was a great year![divider style=”medium”] [spacer height=”10px”]
Where Did The Year Begin For MarkUBiz?
2013 began with MarkUBiz being run out of my apartment in Reno, Nevada. I was the only employee and I believe we had 6 clients at that time. I remember working in our second bedroom with the dog laying on the desk and juggling all of the hats one must wear when running a business. It had its pluses and minuses, but it is hard to believe that 12 months ago that is what MarkUBiz looked like.[divider style=”medium”] [spacer height=”10px”]
Where Is MarkUBiz Now?
Looking back over the last 12 months it is hard to believe all of the changes that MarkUBiz has been through.[divider style=”medium”] [spacer height=”10px”]
In February 2013, MarkUBiz moved into our current office in Sparks, Nevada. This was a big decision as it added a decent amount of overhead that I had not previously had. Looking back, I am very glad that I decided to make the move. Throughout the year the office has served as a place to meet with clients, brainstorm with partners, host various events and most importantly house our growing team![divider style=”medium”] [spacer height=”10px”]
From February to March our team started to grow. The best part is that, at this point, our team consists of family and very close friends! We plan on this changing in 2014 as we continue to grow our team.
I brought on a close friend, Matthew Macillus, and could not be prouder of his growth this year. Matt has stepped up to every challenge thrown his way and has learned so much about the industry. He continues to manage our social media programs, work on various development projects, and handle everything else we throw his way.
My uncle, Gary Sizemore, also joined the team at this point. Gary helped with customer relations and production. It was a pleasure working with Gary as he is a very hard worker and always made sure that our customers were happy. Unfortunately, on mutual terms, Gary has moved on to pursue other things.
Chris O’Sullivan also joined the MarkUBiz team this year! Chris O’Sullivan is the MarkUBiz Director of Sales and has worked throughout the year to increase MarkUBiz’s exposure in the community. I am glad to have Chris on the team as he brings a wealth of business knowledge and a level of passion about business that is infectious.
Lastly, my mother, Denise Sizemore has stepped in to help with administrative duties. She has been there as support throughout the growth of MarkUBiz and now helps make sure the numbers are what they should be. She also helps to rein in the dreamer in me and keep me focused on the task at hand.[divider style=”medium”] [spacer height=”10px”]
Growth In Customers!
I love what we do at MarkUBiz, because we get to help businesses tap into the power of the web. Up through today we have worked with 46 different businesses on various projects. We fell a little short of the goal I set for 2013, but I am very happy with where we are at. We have made some great friendships and look forward to working with more businesses in 2014. The Formation Of Great Business Friends & Partners
Throughout 2013 one the things that I am most thankful for is the business relationships I have formed. I do not want to name names, as I am sure I will forget someone, but I am very blessed by the wonderful partnerships I have formed this year. It is nice to have a referral network of businesses that I can refer business to and that trust’s us with their referrals! I am excited to strengthen these relationships in 2014. Thank You For A Great Year!
Lastly, I want to say thank you to everyone who has worked with or supported MarkUBiz throughout the year. Thank you friends, family, partners, clients, the community and everyone else for all that you have done to allow MarkUBiz to grow into what it is today.
